Fairtrade Milk Chocolate Biscuits
Ingredients:
8 pieces of fairtrade milk chocolate
56g self raising flour
25g margarine
25g fairtrade sugar
1/4 of an egg
Equipment:
1 Rolling pin
1 Plastic or wooden spoon
1 Pair of scales
1 Baking tray
Cutters/knife
Adult (advised)
Method:
1.) First break the chocolate into blocks and crush it up in a bowl with a rolling pin or the end of a spoon.
2.) When you have broken up the chocolate add the flour and sugar (remember to set your scales to 0g first). We used fairtrade sugar, but you can just use ordinary caster sugar.
3.) Now add the margarine; using your fingers rub the mixture into bread crumbs.
4.) Stir to combine.
They should be in the oven for 10 minutes.
5.) Then once the mixture is stirred you can add the egg (judge amount by eye). After this you can add more flour accordingly if you put too much egg in.
6.) Mix the mixture to a soft dough that can be easily rolled. If your mixture is too sticky you will need to add more flour and mix again. It doesn't need to be too dry, just enough that you can hold it in your hands without getting any bits stuck on your hands when you take it off.
7.) Next, sprinkle some flour over your surface and shape your dough in to a ball (try not to play around with it to much its like bread, you can over knead it except its more easy to do) then roll it out (using your rolling pin) to a thickness of about 1cm.
8.) After that you can shape your biscuits using cutter/knife.
9.) You are now ready to put them on to the baking tray and cook them.
ENJOY!!! :)
